Ronnie Scott's Charitable Foundation presents... BIG BAND IN A DAY

The Ronnie Scott’s Charitable Foundation invites in young musicians to a free one day workshop in which they will be formed into a Jazz Big band and will perform two pieces on Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club main stage that evening.

This Sunday monthly session is run by top UK jazz musicians including Pete Long (Saxophonist/Ronnie Scott's Orchestra band leader), Mark Armstrong (National Youth Jazz Orchestra Artistic Director), Georgina Jackson (singer and trumpet player) and many more. The workshop started in 2012 and is fully funded by the Ronnie Scott's Charitable Foundation.

Students 12-17 years old would be expected to be able to play to grade 5 standard. Instrumentalists needed: piano, bass, drums, saxophones (alto/tenor & baritone), trumpets, trombones, guitar. We may be able to help provide some instruments, please check with us.

A fantastic free opportunity for young aspiring musicians to perform on Ronnie Scott's main stage!

"Daisy thoroughly  enjoyed the 'Big Band In a Day' on Sunday and has gained so much from working with such inspiring and encouraging band leaders. It was a real privilege to be able to sit and watch Pete and James at work throughout the day and to witness the difference they made to each student."

"Just to say a very big thank you to you and to all at Ronnie Scotts for the brilliant day Patrick spent with you on Sunday for Big Band in a Day.  He absolutely loved the day and playing the drums in such a fantastic, renowned club was a truly unforgettable experience.  He, the pianist, bassist and guitarist were even given a chance to play by themselves – something they all loved… They have since been in touch with one another and despite living in various different towns really want to keep in touch and get together to play together again.  Without the Big Band in a Day opportunity, they would never have even met…. Again, thank you all.

"James Pearson and Pete Long were really great running things and I think all the kids learnt so much on the day from them so please pass on our really grateful thanks to them too….Their time and effort is really appreciated especially giving up the whole of their Sunday so please let them know.. The performance in the evening for young musicians who had only just got together was brilliant! Patrick loves jazz already and the session on Sunday has definitely fired him to go further… Thanks again for everything"
